Friction-reducing engine seal for commercial vehicle engines

Many new trends in engine and drive train engineering focus on the mechanical efficiency of drive components and reducing friction loss. Radial shaft seals rings (RSSR) generally have to be large in commercial vehicles and accordingly create large amounts of friction. KACO has developed a new generation of reduced-friction seals, the Fred series, in order to address this problem. “F” stands for friction and “red” for reduced: an RSSR with reduced friction. The Fred range of seals is already used in a variety of applications. To develop it for use in commercial vehicles, KACO has defined three areas of the requirements profile to focus on.
